The newly reorganized Todd County Development Corporation (TCDC) is an incorporated 501c(4) organization meeting the criteria of statutes, and established for the purpose of promoting, advertising, improving and developing the economic and agricultural resources of Todd County.
The TCDC is seeking an Executive Director to further the goal of quality economic growth for Todd County and will report directly to the TCDC Board of Directors.
Todd County covers an area of approximately 940 square miles in the center of Minnesota with a population of 23,869. It encompasses 28 townships; the cities or communities of Hewitt, Bertha, Eagle Bend, Clarissa, Browerville, Round Prairie, Little Sauk, West Union, Burtrum and the county seat, Long Prairie. Two of its cities straddle county lines: Staples, part of which is in Wadena County; and Osakis, part of which is in Douglas County.
Minimum Requirements: Preferred qualifications for the position include a bachelor’s degree in finance, economic development, business development or private sector marketing (or an equivalent combination of education, work and life experience). Position requires a grasp of rural economic development, demonstrated ability to network and build relationships among private and public sector groups, excellent written and verbal communications skills, willingness to travel. Working knowledge of Microsoft office needed. Expertise in business planning, financing and grant writing a plus. Must successfully pass a background check and possess and maintain a valid MN driver’s license or have access to transportation to successfully complete the essential functions of the position.
Salary: Compensation Package at: $45,000 - $74,000

LOCATION OF POSITION
The BR&E Program Director is based in the Extension Center for Community Vitality office located on the University of Minnesota campus in St. Paul, Minnesota. The position is funded at .5 FTE and will report to Extension’s Program Leader (PL) for Community Economics. The BR&E Program Director will collaborate with the Analyst/Writer (located in Mankato) who prepares BR&E surveys, analysis and reports, as well as with Extension educators in Community Economics (located throughout the State) who coach/teach Extension’s BR&E programs in communities.
ABOUT THIS POSITION
The Position will oversee Extension’s BR&E program offerings and coordinate program development of improvements to the program including educational materials, training courses, website management, evaluation, and overall fiscal management for the program.
The Program Director will help ensure the focus and quality of BR&E programming including the Business Retention and Expansion Strategies offering (established 1990) and the BR&E Toolkit offering (created in 2008). The BR&E team includes: the BR&E Program Director, nine Extension educators, the Analyst/Writer and support staff in Mankato, and clerical, technology and other support provided by support staff who are under the supervision of the Assistant Director of the Center for Community Vitality.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor’s degree at time of appointment. Formal education should include significant coursework in a related field such as applied or community economics; economics; public policy or administration; business; and/or a closely related field.
Experience: Five years of related professional experience or three years experience with Masters degree. Related professional experience should come from higher education; community or interest-based organizations; state, regional or local development agencies; Extension; and/or foundations. Knowledge and practical experience with economic development practices at a community level.
Skills/Abilities: Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; ability to apply research to program design, delivery and evaluation; evidence of using technology for communication, information finding, program delivery and reporting. Strong skills in Excel, Word, and Powerpoint. Organizational, decision-making, and teamwork skills essential. Commitment to professional development.
